The Problems From Rap

Rap music is a misunderstood art form.  The beats are intoxicating.  The rhymes are as slick as oil and as smooth as peanut butter. People all over the world don't just listen to rap, they try to actually rap.  Like it or not, rap is a worldwide phenomenon that doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

Rap is also one of the greatest weapons against black American's, its own creators.  Rap has caused blacks to accept the N-word to the point where it just means 'guy' or something .  Instead of saying 'that guy over there', someone will say 'the N-word over there'.  Or they may say 'what's up my N-word', instead of saying 'what's up, my friend'.  Honestly, this writer doesn't want to be near most blacks because he doesn't want to hear the N-word tossed around so so casually by the very people it's meant to destroy.

Rappers that aren't black use rap as a convenient way to say the N-word without any backlash.  The Teriyaki Boys, Machine gun Kelly, even John Cena (yeah, the pro wrestler) are among the non-black rappers this writer has dropped from his playlist because they used the N-word.  It's gotten to the point where people that aren't black ask 'why can't I say it?'  This writer's question is why do they want to say it so badly.

The damage that rap has done to black Americans isn't just limited to the embracing of a slur.  It's been used as a deadly toxin to stymie the growth of blacks.  Calling women the B-word, supporting the selling and use of drug, treating criminals like saints, and (backed by feminism) promoting single-mother households are among the evil that have been pushed onto blacks by this once-great music genre.  The end result is that black America idolizes stupidity and is lead by idiots.

Now, there is rap that is good that doesn't degrade blacks.  Will Smith comes to mind in this aspect.  This writer has seen a lot a Mr. Smith's work and listened to a lot of his rap.  Not once (at least to this writer's knowledge) has he uttered the N-word in any of his lyrics.  Also, his raps don't degrade women, don't push selling and using drugs.  He literally doesn't have a single negative lyric any any of his raps.  Then you have gospel rappers such as John P. Kee and Winans Phase 2 (not sure if they're still around) who...well...rap about the gospel.  Good, wholesome rap to balance out the bad.

The confusing thing to this writer is black seem to relate more to to bad rap than the good.  Will Smith is called lame, while rappers who promote the destruction of the black race are 'real' and 'understand the black struggle'.  Read that that again and ask yourself if that makes sense.  Snoop Dogg can talk about killing N-words, screwing B-words, and doing drugs and he's 'keeping it real', while Will Smith does none of that and is called 'white'.  That is insanity of the highest order.

In conclusion, rap wasn't always bad and still isn't all bad.  It has, however, downgraded in quality and as result, downgrades the quality of the people who listen to it.  As one of this writer favorite music genres, it makes him sad to see what has become of rap and its creators.

Until next time...
