Straight Shaming

There is an attack on masculinity in America, that much can't be denied.  Ever since the 80's men have been under attack.  The media (surprise, surprise) has led the charge in this attack, backed by the government.  This writer noticed it as a kid and now more than ever, young boys (and grown men, as well) are made to feel that their masculinity is something to be ashamed of or to be suppressed.

Naturally, being heterosexual is under attack along with masculinity.  Now this writer doesn't have a problem with homosexuality, but people are going so far as to say heterosexuality is something to be ashamed of.  They say liking the opposite sex is dirty and unnatural.  They don't explain why(maybe they can't), but being heterosexual is something to be looked down upon.

People will even go so far as to blame straight, white males for everything that's gone wrong, going wrong, and will ever go wrong.  One youtuber went so far as to equate being a heterosexual male to being a racist.  This writer isn't sure how that works or how being a straight (usually white) male means you're a racist.  In the words of a black woman on a show I forgot the name of, "What is it that you want straight white males to do?"  If you're white, have a penis, and are straight, you're the cause of all evil?  That's essentially what's being said.  How is this fair?  It isn't fair and there's no logic behind such a statement.

It's not just straight white males, but straight black males who have to deal with this garbage.  "If you're a straight black male, you must like to beat and rape women," someone once said.  Don't believe it, just ask Bill Cosby and Nate Parker, among others. Once again, who does that work and how's that fair?  How does being a straight black male mean you want to rape women?  Does anyone see how stupid this is getting?

Oh, but it still gets even more stupid.  A youtuber went so far as to say being straight is a construct of white supremacy.  WTF?  The stupid things some people say.  That is a slap in the face of both God and science(two diametrically opposed concepts), as well as any non-white straight person that has ever existed.  Do you see what happens when you let the media (surprise, surprise) raise your children?

In the end, heterosexuality is as natural to some as homosexuality is to others. Stand up and say, "I'm male!  I'm straight!  Get used to it!"  The same goes for those that happen to be homosexual.  Let's all have pride in what we are instead of shaming others for what they are.

Until next time...

The Church

This writer is a straight, baptist male.  He forgot the date and year of his baptism (it was posted on the bible he was given, but he conveniently lost it) but he remembers how he felt.  A baptism is considered to be a rebirth of sorts and that's what it felt like.  It was like a breath of fresh air.  This writer was a new person.

That didn't matter to the church, though.  A lot of the crap that happened in school still happened in the church.  This writer was still  by his peers and looked down upon by the adults, all for no reason.  Needless to say, that sucked.  If this writer wanted to constantly deal with bullies and be ignored by adults, he would have kept flunking third grade.  Truly garbage.

This writer toughed it out until he became an adult and the experience wasn't any more satisfying.  As one youtuber put it, it was like an extensions of high school.  Everyone branched of into cliques and if you couldn't find a place to fit in, well it sucked to be you.  It wasn't just limited to this writer, either.  This writer can't tell you how many times he heard this "saved" people make fun of someones clothes or who needed a beating.  This writer is isn't just talking about the general congregation.  Deacons, choirs member, and even a few of the ministers started swearing like they were making a rap album as soon as the got of the doors.  What a bunch of hypocrites.

This writer also noticed a lot of straight up BS in the sermons themselves.  For one, the sermons are all recycled from the previous year.  The writer is means the preacher will preach something, then the next year, he'll be saying the same thing on the same day.  It's almost like the preacher is given a set of talking points to parrot instead of reading the bible for himself and writing the sermon in his own words.

Then, there those who don't practice what they preach.  They tell you not to fornicate, then turn around and screw the choir director (whom they're not married to, by the way).  They say you shouldn't do drugs, but then you'll catch them sniffing fumes in an alley.  They'll trash talk behind people's backs, then pretend they're friends when they get face-to-face.  The biggest kicker is when they spend years telling you homosexuality is bad and demonic, then years later tell you that you need to accept homosexuality (you know, that thing they spent years preaching against) or you'll burn in Hell.  In consistancies like these and more made this writer realize the church and it's people are full of crap.

Don't mistake leaving the church as turning your back on God.  This writer is simply saying that you don't have to go the the church to worship the Lord.  In fact, you can often have a more fulfilling relationship with the Lord if you stay at home and pray before you watch football on Sunday (Go, Detroit Lions).  You can still love the Lord as as much and you won't have to kiss another set of butts (hypocrite butts, to boot) to prove it.

Until next time...

Luke Cage Is Too Black?

Luke Cage is a Netflix hit.  It has has everything a show needs...except white people apparently.  This has some people in an uproar, crying that there aren't enough whites in the show.  This writer only can only ask whether or not it's really that bad.  No, this writer isn't talking about the lack of white people in the show.  This writer is talking about a show about a successful show with a heavily black cast.

Decade after decade after decade, many shows have had all-white casts or shows with little or no diversity.  A lot of these shows were hits.  Other shows had mostly white casts with the occassional token of some other race (They weren't always black).  These charcaters were (and still are) written as idiots, not normal, or barely human.  Yeah, it sucks, but that's the vision of the people who created it.  Fair enough.

So with respect to the vision of the creator or creators, shouldn't it be possible for them to create a world and include who they want or don't want, whether or not that happens to be whites.  Just look at classics such as Dennis The Menace or The Brady Bunch.  Those shows seemed to be lacking diversity, but people enjoyed them nonetheless without complaint.  While people have complained about being underrepresented in their favorite shows, those same people will find a way to enjoy it whether or not diversity increases.

Personally, this writer has enjoyed many shows and movies where his people were barely there, tokens, or weren't represented at all.  As a fan of anime, this writer's people aren't really there and that isn't always a bad thing in a medium where the creators pretend they don't know what's offensive and what isn't.  This is so, because when they do create such characters, they're usually offensive and the creator hides behind the lie that they didn't know it was offensive.  At times like this, this writer would prefer it if his people weren't represented in the medium at all.

Here's an example of what this writer means about being better to not be represented at all.  Let's say the creators say, "The people are right.  We need a white character to be as be a presence as Luke Cage."  Then the writer would proceed to creator a toothless, beer-drinking Klansman who lynches black men, rapes black women and children, and sleeps with his own sister when he has a moment to spare.  Obviously (hopefully), white viewers would be angry (and rightfully so) and complain about being represented by this character.  Let's also assume the creator turned around and said, "If you don't like the character, deal with.  You asked for a token and we gave you a token."  You'd rather not be represented at all if the creators pulled a stunt like that.  You might even (and probably should) stop watching although.

In the end, it doesn't matter what the make up of the cast and characters, the show is good.  As stated before, there are plenty of great shows with little or no diversity.  Luke Cage just happens to be one of those show.  In other words, let's stop complaining, grab some snacks, and enjoy the show.  Or tune out.

Until next time...

The Return of Chris Hansen

In the mid-2000's there was a show on NBC called To Catch A Predator.  In this show, host Chris Hansen set up stings to catch child predators and get them arrested.  To do this, he worked with a organizations, including the local police, to look for people online trying to solicit boys and girls for sex.  He also worked with a child decoy, who was usually eighteen or nineteen, for the actual meeting with the predator.  It's in these face to face meetings where the hilarity happened.

Once the predator took the bait and went to the house, he was met with said decoy.  The decoy and the predator would make small talk for a bit before Mr. Hansen emerged from the shadows like a ninja to confront them, usually to the predator's surprise.  When the predator tried to deny their intentions, Mr. Hansen would present him with multiple e-mails to contradict the denial.

Then the camera men came out of nowhere and the predator knew he was screwed.  People all across America would see their face, know their name, and what they did for work.  Some of these people were (as this writer said in his Public Schools post) teachers who have daily access to children.  If that's not scary, then the word needs to be redefined.

The humor came when the predators realized they were up a creek.  Some begged, some cried, and a few even tried to attack Mr. Hansen.  Ultimately, the predator would be sent outside into a police ambush and promptly arrested.  It was satistfying, entertaining, and gave this writer hours of laughter.

So, where's the BS?  The show was canceled and Mr. Hansen was given the ax by NBC.  There were a number of reason why this happened, all of them BS.  Chief among the is the criminals were getting smarter and that the sting wasn't working as much.  There was actually some truth to this as in later episodes, people would stake out the house to make sure it wasn't a setup.  Some people would see the decoy and make a break for it or get scared and avoid the house altogether.  Others still would take the bait and knew exactly who he was and what awaited them outside.  The supposed nail in the show's coffin was when a big time CEO realized he had fallen for a trap and commited suicide when the police came to arrest him.

Anyway, this writer was heartbroken when he realized the show was canceled.  This writer faithfully watched the show.  Where would he see child predators get humiliated and arrested on national TV?  How could NBC cancel such a necesary show?

Enter Crime Watch Daily.  Mr. Hansen is now on that show, catching child predators again.  While it's not quite the same as his NBC show (as they don't devote entire episodes to it) the reactions of the predators are just as funny and their occupations just as shocking.  As stated in the Public Schools post, some of the predators are teachers, tutors, and youth sports coaches with daily access to children.  If that's not scary, then the word needs to be redefined.

This writer is happy Mr. Hansen is back on the air, doing what he does best.    The only thing wrong with the situation is that he never should have been taken off the air to begin with.  WTF, NBC?

Trump Said What?

Republican presidential nominee Donald trump recnetly made a controversial staements about women in a video that has been made public.  The statements are said to be so out-of-line that the Republicans are demanding he drop out of the race for President.  This writer agrees the the statement are not something becoming of a potential President.  The witer has to ask one question; Is anyone really surprised by this?

This is Donald Trump we're talking about here.  All he's done is say the stupidest crap imaginable for years and years.  He's only gotten worse since he announced his candidacy.  Where was all this outrage when he was saying racist and mysogynistic things before?  These critics that have suddenly emerged out of nowhere couldn't be found.  Those same Republicans urging him to drop out were shaking his hand, laughing and eating with him, and taking pictures when he was saying racist crap about Mexicans, Arabs, and African Americans, as well as women (Looking at you Mitt Romney).  Republicans knew what they were getting when they pushed this guy to the moon, but they supported him anyway.  Like it or not, Republicans, this is the man you wanted and now you're stuck with him.

This writer will go out on a limb say that what he said wasn't even as bad as the stuff he's said in the past.  This writer can't believe it, but he's actually defending Donald freaking Trump.  Somebody call the Devil and ask him if Hell has frozen over.  Seriously, what he said is no worse than what the average man says when he gets together with his friends to shoot some pool (Oh, the things this writer has heard).  This writer isn't saying that it isn't bad, just that of all the things he's said, this fairly tame statement is what sets off Republicans.  It reeks of BS and this writer doesn't buy the outrage.

Also, let's consider all the things that others have been caught on tape saying who got off easy (Hulk Hogan) or came out better off despite appearing to have lost a lot (Donald Sterling).  This writer can't blame Mr. Trump for saying what he said in public when people (including Mr. Trump himself) have essentially been rewarded for saying controversial things.  They say equally bad stuff on Fox News, yet we're not asking them to quit their jobs and shutdown the channel.

This writer personally hopes Mr. Trump doesn't give in and stays in the race.  He's spit in the face of so many demographics and America as a whole, so why back down now.  America has only rewarded him for spitting in it's face.  If Republicans seriously wanted another candidate, they'd have picked him from the onset instead of letting this guy take the lead.  The options were out there.

Finally, why did the media (once again, is this a surprise) release it now?  They sat on this for ten years.  What do they have to gain from this?  They could have released when he relased his candidacy so that Republicans could have given him the boot (if they we're serious) and pushed for another candidate early on.  If the Republican lose the White House, it will be them (not the media) who suffer for trotting out a terrible candidate to challenge a bad candidate (Hillary sucks and the Democrats know it).

Well, this post could get pretty long, so this writer will wrap it up.  Mr. Trump has said worse.  It's just that simple.  He's said worse about minorities and especially women, yet nobody ever called him out or said he was wrong.  Instead of getting mad at Donald Trump for simply doing what he's been known to do for years, let's get mad it the media for not releasing this footage earlier, when it could have done some good.

Until next time...

Cosby-Inspired Law Change?

California Governor Jerry Brown has recently signed a bill to eliminating the statute of limitations on sex crimes.  This in and of itself isn't a problem isn't a problem.  This writer has no problem with making criminals pay for their past crimes.

The problem (aka BS reasoning) with this is that this move was inspired by the current issues plaguging the lengendary actor, Mr. Bill Cosby.  Where's the BS?  It's in the fact that there is no solid evidence that he did anything but have consensual sex with these women.  A lot of these women have been proven to be lying, but that doesn't matter to the law makers or public at large.  Fifty women came out, so it must be true.  Not necesarily.

This writer remembers in second grade, the entire classroom teamed up against him to get him in trouble with the teacher.  These kids cranked their BS machine into high gear and told lie after lie, which reulted in this writer being penalized.  It didn't involve sex crimes or jail time, but that's beside the point.  The point is that this writer got in trouble because the majority had their lies lined up.  To simplify it further, just because at lot of people say someone did something doesn't make it true.

This writer isn't saying that Mr. Cosby did or didn't do anything.  He's saying that there's no proof that he did it and that numbers don't mean anything without solid evidence or facts to back it up.  Now, laws are being changed because we can't proof that a potentially innocent man did anything wrong because multiple 'victims' could (emphasis on could) be lying.  Do you see what happens when logic is trumped by emotion?  This writer alway though the phrase was "innocent until proven guilty", not "guilty because a bunch of people come out with no proof".  How is this fair?

A few people told this writer that his stance makes it hard for rape victims to come out and say they've been raped.  This is false.  Liars make it harder for the victims, because if there are too many liar, people question the truth who's really a victim.  As stated before, this writer isn't saying that all of these women are lying, but (as stated in this writer's personal example) any number of people can get together and lie on an individual.

On the good side, actual predators won't be able to run and wait out the statute of limitations.  The only thing that will have to be done is to sort out the real victims from the liars.  But then again, why wait to report a rape.  Report it as soon as possible, so that you'll have a stronger chance at proving your case and getting a scumbag of the street, instead of waiting decades, when the possible proof has all but vanished.

Until next time...

The Media pt. 2

Well, it's time to break out the shovels and continue digging into this pile.  In the last media post, this writer touched on the things that the media does.  The biggest thing they do is corrupt viewers.  They push stereotypes, sexualize women and children, among other things.  They do this through means of seemingly harmless shows.  Generally, the shows really are harmless, but people (especially children) are vulnerable to this brainwashing by the media.

Old shows like Home Improvement and Everybody Loves Raymond depict males as idiots who can't understand emotions.  Talk shows like Maury and Jerry Springer have pushed the 'Men Are All Cheaters' narrative for about twenty-five years each.  What's the end result?  You've got a generation of boys who don't want to be men and men who who don't know how to be men.  They didn't get that way by watching Good Times.

Some shows push stereotypes.  There's this popular show on Fox called Empire.  The show is filled with stereotypical characters, but this writer gave it a chance anyway.  Then, one of the characters uttered a phrase that turned him completely off to the show.  "There's so much homophobia in the black community."  Once that was said, this writer realized whoever wrote this crap has no sense of history and/or hasn't lived in an African American neighborhood.  If he did, he couldn't write a line like that and feel good about.  The producer, a gay African American himself, co-signed this flat-out lie for a quick buck.  That's garbage and he knows it.

Still, other shows poison your children by making them disrespectful to their elders.  Kids will tell their parents to shut up in public, emulating the characters they see on TV.  Disney Channel has a number of shows where parents come off as idiots who are not to be listened to or respected.  This has various results.  The first is that you have kids who will try to boss around or cuss out their parents.  This would not happen twenty or thirty years ago, as these kids would be left toothless.

The second result is the you've got parents (and adults in general) trying to be friends with children and negotiate.  This is bad as you now have weak parents who are afraid their children won't be their firend, so they won't do want a parent needs to do.  They want to be like the cool parent on TV instead of being teaching those children how to children how to survive without them.  This can promote pedophilia and hebophilia, because these adults feel they can 'relate' better with children.

Naturally, there is a push to sexaulize children through TV and other media sources.  A few show will trot out kids in the most revealing clothes and one of the adult characters will make make a sexual remark about the children to another adult, mostly in jest, but the statement is made nonetheless.  This writer remembers a scene from Seinfeld (a pretty good show, by the way) where the George Constanza character got caught ogling a fifteen-year old girl in her home.  As mentioned before, this writer likes the show, but how is this joke okay?  How was George not being hauled away in handcuffs and thrown under the jail.  This isn't the only show to do such a joke, but these post can only be so long.

Keep those shovels and rubber gloves handy, because this isn't the last you'll read about the media.  As stated in the last post, this is the biggest pile of BS yet.

Until next time...
