Ryan Lochte

During the Rio Olympics, swimmer Ryan Lochte and his friends trashed a gas station bathroom and refused to pay for the damages.  They lied and said they were robbed at gunpoint.  Heck, Ryan (Lyin' from this point forward) even fled Rio.  So how did America show how much they disapproved of what he did?  They gave him a spot on ABC's Dancing With The Stars.

Yep.  He was rewarded for going to another country, making a scene, lying about it, and fleeing.  Is that what we do America?  Reward people for being pricks?  Yes, there was a protest live on the air, which required security to be called, but that's beside the point.  The point is that he should have never been on the show to begin with.  How does one get rewarded for being a vandal?  Who's going to be on next season's DWTS?  George Zimmerman?

Of course, the media has to swoop in and save the day.  So who did the media spin this?  After it was found out that he lied about being robbed, they chalked it up to him being a kid and making a mistakes.  That's right.  A thirty-two year old man is now still just a kid.  Bull stuff.  If we show mercy to kids in America, then why was Tamir Rice (who was actually a kid) shot and killed by law enforcement officers because of a mistake.

This writer isn't saying Lyin' should get shot.  He's just pointing out the hypocracy.  If you're a thirty-two year old vandal, you're a kid who made a mistake and you get to skate by.  But if you're a twelve year old with a toy gun, the law will come down on you with the wrath of God.  In what screwed up alternate dimension does this make sense?  Even Bizarro World isn't that messed up.

Until next time...
