Republican presidential nominee Donald trump recnetly made a controversial staements about women in a video that has been made public. The statements are said to be so out-of-line that the Republicans are demanding he drop out of the race for President. This writer agrees the the statement are not something becoming of a potential President. The witer has to ask one question; Is anyone really surprised by this?
This is Donald Trump we're talking about here. All he's done is say the stupidest crap imaginable for years and years. He's only gotten worse since he announced his candidacy. Where was all this outrage when he was saying racist and mysogynistic things before? These critics that have suddenly emerged out of nowhere couldn't be found. Those same Republicans urging him to drop out were shaking his hand, laughing and eating with him, and taking pictures when he was saying racist crap about Mexicans, Arabs, and African Americans, as well as women (Looking at you Mitt Romney). Republicans knew what they were getting when they pushed this guy to the moon, but they supported him anyway. Like it or not, Republicans, this is the man you wanted and now you're stuck with him.
This writer will go out on a limb say that what he said wasn't even as bad as the stuff he's said in the past. This writer can't believe it, but he's actually defending Donald freaking Trump. Somebody call the Devil and ask him if Hell has frozen over. Seriously, what he said is no worse than what the average man says when he gets together with his friends to shoot some pool (Oh, the things this writer has heard). This writer isn't saying that it isn't bad, just that of all the things he's said, this fairly tame statement is what sets off Republicans. It reeks of BS and this writer doesn't buy the outrage.
Also, let's consider all the things that others have been caught on tape saying who got off easy (Hulk Hogan) or came out better off despite appearing to have lost a lot (Donald Sterling). This writer can't blame Mr. Trump for saying what he said in public when people (including Mr. Trump himself) have essentially been rewarded for saying controversial things. They say equally bad stuff on Fox News, yet we're not asking them to quit their jobs and shutdown the channel.
This writer personally hopes Mr. Trump doesn't give in and stays in the race. He's spit in the face of so many demographics and America as a whole, so why back down now. America has only rewarded him for spitting in it's face. If Republicans seriously wanted another candidate, they'd have picked him from the onset instead of letting this guy take the lead. The options were out there.
Finally, why did the media (once again, is this a surprise) release it now? They sat on this for ten years. What do they have to gain from this? They could have released when he relased his candidacy so that Republicans could have given him the boot (if they we're serious) and pushed for another candidate early on. If the Republican lose the White House, it will be them (not the media) who suffer for trotting out a terrible candidate to challenge a bad candidate (Hillary sucks and the Democrats know it).
Well, this post could get pretty long, so this writer will wrap it up. Mr. Trump has said worse. It's just that simple. He's said worse about minorities and especially women, yet nobody ever called him out or said he was wrong. Instead of getting mad at Donald Trump for simply doing what he's been known to do for years, let's get mad it the media for not releasing this footage earlier, when it could have done some good.
Until next time...
