This writer has seen it all now. Just when the public image of police across the national shouldn't be able to get lower, this happens. A man in Miami was lying on his back with his hands in the air was shot in the hand. WTF?
That man, Charles Kinsey, was fortunate to survive, but why was he shot? Unlike the Mike Brown case (where we only heard what happened) or the Eric Garner Case (Where he may have been passively resist) Charles Kinsey was on video seen complying with police. Yet they still felt he needed to be shot.
The funny thing is, the officer said the bullet was meant for a man Mr. Kinsey was taking care of. Who was this man? An autistic 26-year old armed with a toy train. Yep. A toy train caused a trained (supposedly) cop to lose his cool and shoot a man lying on his back with his hands up. (Faceplam). This writer wishes he could make something like this up.
The whole situation reeks of incompetent policing. This is what happens when you hire hair-brained morons with itchy trigger fingers. But most of all, it reeks of bull stuff. Taxpayers pay these people to serve and protect, not to shoot people who pose no threat at all. It's going to be interesting to see how the media spins this (more on them in future posts).
Until next time...
I found it unbelievable! Seriously. I think some of the police and guys who are anxious to go to war have a screw or two loose.
